Teachers must keep up with technology > Back
To Resources
Nowadays, all across America, schools are being
equipped with computers. In some schools, each classroom has a
computer; others have computer labs. But do America's teachers
and students really know what they are doing when they sit down
at a computer?
Students are being exposed to using technology
very early in life so they usually can do just about anything.
However, many children don't know how to evaluate what makes a
good source of information or do not know of the possible dangers
of chatting with someone online.
Of course, this problem rarely is remedied because
it is a well known fact that most of the time, in a classroom,
students are giving their teachers lessons on how exactly to use
a computer, i.e. how to delete something or send e-mail. Although
teachers are extremely busy people, they should really take some
time to learn more about new technology. This is especially true
since integrating technology into education is a continuing trend,
for example: the National Education Association believes that
all schools and libraries should be equipped with state-of-the-art
technology.
New knowledge and technology can be acquired
in a very short time, and passing information on to students is
what teaching is all about.
Face the facts; in today's society, technology
is something that can not be escaped. Teachers must keep ahead
of the times so they can expose students to technology before
they do it on their own.
